Why Campervan In New Zealand?

The Freedom Of The Road

Having a vehicle means you can go wherever you want at your own leisure. There is no time-frame on available days to travel or a set time to get up out of your bed. Life is yours to control and you should take advantage of this and explore all of the amazing places the New Zealand has to offer. Both the north and south islands have adrenaline pumping activities to get your heart racing and jaw dropping scenery around every corner. The further off the beaten track you get the more beautiful the location. In your own 4×4 campervan you can even explore more places than most.

Cost Effective

A hard question to answer.. Well it depends on a number of factors like how many people are splitting the costs? Are you looking for a cheap camper or a fancy one with all of the trimmings? Is your plan to stay at DOC sites or park up in the middle of nowhere? When you share costs and weigh up the costs of accommodation and eating out, you have a reasonable price. An 8 bed dorm room in New Zealand’s south island goes for $27 upwards all year round.

The Landscape

It is hard to explain to those who have not been to New Zealand the true magnitude of the beauty. Around every corner another spectacular site and across each ridge is another epic mountain pass. Images of campervans parked up by the lake with kayaks paddling in the distance has been a dream of mine for years. Even the driving is fun as the roads wind and turn through forests and across mountains.

Friendship and Romance On The Road

Living in such close quarters can be a blessing or a curse. When you and a friend chose to travel together in a campervan, there can be some great times ahead. But on the contrary, traveling with a partner can be amazing. There is something very intimate about living together while traveling around New Zealand.

Money

This depends on the length of your stay in New Zealand. If you come on a working holiday, then I recommend having a look at buying a campervan as you will have one year to use it. If you rent your campervan, it is pretty expensive for most unless you are sharing the costs between friends. Good news is that campervans in New Zealand will hold their value and you should be able to sell it for as much as you bought it for after a few months of travel.
